Free Printable Volleyball Lineup Sheets

Free Printable Volleyball Lineup Sheets – Looking for free printable volleyball lineup sheets? Whether you coach high school, club, youth, or recreational teams in the USA, a clear lineup sheet helps you submit starters correctly, avoid rotation faults, and stay organized on match day.

A volleyball lineup sheet lists your six starting players in rotational order (positions I–VI), plus the libero. Coaches hand it to the second referee before every set. Officials use it to verify the serving order and court positions.

Why You Need a Lineup Sheet

Under USA Volleyball (USAV) and NFHS high school rules, teams must submit a lineup before each set. Position I is the first server. Players rotate clockwise after a side-out. The libero is listed separately and can replace back-row players without counting as a substitution.

Correct sheets prevent delays, rotational faults, and lost points. Many coaches also keep a copy on the bench for quick reference during the match.

How to Fill Out a Volleyball Lineup Sheet?

  1. Write the team name, date, opponent, and coach name at the top.
  2. Enter jersey numbers in positions I through VI. Position I is the right-back serving position.
  3. List the libero number in the designated box (one libero per set under standard NFHS rules; some club formats allow two).
  4. Mark captains with a “C” or “A” next to their numbers if required.
  5. Sign the sheet and submit it to the second referee at least one minute before the set (NFHS) or as directed by the tournament.

You can change the entire starting lineup between sets. Many coaches fill sets 1–2 in advance and adjust later based on matchups or performance.

Tips for USA Coaches and Teams

  • Print extras before the season and keep them in a binder with scoresheets.
  • Use a separate rotation tracking sheet on the bench so players and assistants know every position after each side-out.
  • For youth teams, choose templates that spell out position names (Right Back, Middle Front, etc.) alongside Roman numerals.
  • Double-check that every number on the lineup appears on the official roster.
  • Remember: after the first serve of a set, the lineup is locked except through legal substitutions.
