Free Christian Christmas Letter Templates – A free Christian Christmas letter template gives families, churches, and small ministries a ready layout for a Christmas note that points to the birth of Jesus, not only the holiday rush. The best free printables are editable Word or Google Docs files, or a simple PDF you can print on standard U.S. letter paper (8.5 by 11 inches).
Use a template when you want a clean family update, a pastor’s greeting, or a short gospel note to tuck into a card. Personalize the wording, then print it or email a PDF.

What to Include in a Christian Christmas Letter?
Keep it to one page. Most people read a Christmas letter once, often while opening cards.
- Greeting and the year, so the letter is easy to file.
- One sentence on the meaning of Christmas, usually Luke 2 or John 3:16, in your own words.
- Two or three family or ministry updates. Skip the month-by-month list.
- A short thanks, prayer, or invitation to a Christmas Eve service.
- Names and a way to reply, such as an email or church address.
A church letter should add service times and the address. A family letter should leave room for one photo. If someone in the home had a hard year, a brief honest line is enough. You do not owe readers a full medical report.
Sample Wording You Can Adapt
Family letter:
Dear friends,
Merry Christmas from our home. This season we are grateful for the birth of Jesus, and for the ordinary days that still held grace. We welcomed a new school year, kept up a weekly meal with neighbors, and leaned on our church family more than once. May your Christmas be peaceful, and may the new year bring you hope.
With love,
The Henderson family
Church letter:
Dear church family,
Christmas reminds us that God came near in Jesus. Join us for Christmas Eve worship at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Childcare is available at the early service. We are thankful for your prayers and for the ways you served this year. May the peace of Christ be with your household.
In Christ,
Pastor Elena Ward
Grace Community Church
How to Print or Send It?
Set the page to U.S. Letter before you export. Use a serif or simple sans-serif font at 11 or 12 points, and leave at least a half-inch margin so nothing clips at the printer. Export to PDF if you are emailing the letter. For cards, print on slightly heavier paper, about 24 lb or 32 lb.
Mail by the second week of December if you want the letter to arrive before Christmas. A PDF email works well for friends who have moved. Add alt text if you post the letter image on a church website.
FAQ
Is a Christian Christmas letter template really free?
The four resources above offer a free Word file, a free Google Docs copy, a free ZIP, or free browser templates. ChurchLetters.org also sells a membership for a larger library. Adobe Express mixes free and Premium designs. Confirm the button says free or download before you enter a card.
Can I use these for a church bulletin or family card?
Yes for personal and church use on the files described here. The Docs and Slides newsletter asks for attribution. Do not resell a template as your own product. If a page lists personal use only, keep it off a paid product.
What is the difference between a Christmas letter and a newsletter?
A letter is one message, usually one page, signed by a family or pastor. A newsletter uses columns, photos, and short updates. The Google Docs template fits a newsletter. The Word church pack fits a traditional letter.
Which Bible verses fit a short Christmas letter?
Luke 2:10–11, Isaiah 9:6, and John 1:14 are common choices. Quote one verse, then write the rest in your own words so the letter still sounds like you.
